Aborigine

“Aborigine” is the latest epic from Maroochy. The song combines “Aborigine Must Be Free” which was written by Allan Randall in the early 1970s during the land rights movement, with “Spirit of the Land/Dreamtime Rap” written by Maroochy Barambah. It is a hypnotic mix of classical, poetry, and street music – one which promises to become something of a phenomenon amongst Indigenous people all over the world.

“Aborigine” is more than just good entertainment. The song contains a powerful spiritual message that relates to Indigenous people and tests the boundaries of economics, social and political issues affecting them.

In essence, “Aborigine” takes the Black Swan (Maroochy) on her ‘dreaming journey’ of a cultural and spiritual awakening. In many respects, “Aborigine” is an extension of “Mongungi”.
